Welcome to Week 6 of Paint Party Friday (Year 2) and to the next edition of our Featured Artist Series! (Would you like to be a PPF Featured Artist? Please click here for details!) This week we are featuring an artist all the way from the Philippines whose heartfelt and charming paintings have been delighting us regularly at PPF. Please welcome Patsy Paterno!
1) Please tell us a bit about your personal history with painting. (When did you start painting? How has your painting evolved since you first started?)
My whole family is artistic! We've been drawing, painting, sculpting and doing other crafts since we were young. Sometimes all together. We have a family business named papemelroti and we sell our designs there.
I really got into painting on canvases only recently. I think a lot of it had to do with my blog and all the positive feedback I was getting! And also because to make a post, you had to CREATE something! So I got the push I needed!
2) What are your favorite techniques, media, and tools to use in creating your paintings?
I love using found materials, making collages out of painted bookpaper, sewing on buttons from old dresses, etc. I don't like buying expensive materials so I try to find alternatives, like wall putty instead of gesso, transferring images using white glue instead of gel transfer, acrylic paint instead of buying so many stamp pads!
3) What is your favorite thing to paint? Why?
I love painting the Word of God, so that it will embed itself in my heart! I also love to do this so I can inspire and encourage others! I draw and paint in my Faith Journal every day. I started my journal in 2006. Before I just used collage because I wasn't very confident with my drawing skills, but I've noticed that I've improved with all the practice!

4) What is your proudest painting moment and/or greatest painting achievement so far?
I suppose I am proudest that people want to buy my paintings! A congresswoman in our country commissioned me to make two paintings for her to reprint and give away last Christmas! She gave the prints to her fellow Congressmen and to the children in her gift list.

5) What's next in your painting future?
I'm writing a book on Creativity, and have been giving workshops. I want to share what I have learned and I want to encourage others to find their creative heart!
Thank you so much, Patsy! Writing a book is a major and challenging goal. We wish you great success with that effort. To learn even more about Patsy and see more of her art, please visit her at:http://www.papemelroti.com

Another great party last week at PPF! So many wonderful paintings! Now, here is our check-in for this week's party:
Please make sure to use your post URL address NOT your blog home page URL address as there are many late visitors who get confused as to which post is for PPF when they arrive (after Friday) at your website. If you are unfamiliar with Mr. Linky, an explanation of how this tool works can be found on Week 1 and Week 2 Check-Ins.
Hope everyone has fun at the party and a painting-filled week!
